The Monicans are a 3 piece psychedelic alt rock band based in Sheffield. They mix pop and folk melodies with punk and rock and roll intensity to create an energetic and catchy live sound. The band upholds the tradition of rock music to be progressive and forward focused, with emphasis on creation and innovation.  Paul Beard (guitar and vocals) delivers a mix of gentle folk-esque chord progressions and furious, hook-laden riffs, while the rhythm section of Heather Lonie (bass) and Lee Harvey (drums) drive the tunes with precision and power.  While firmly entrenched in the Sheffield scene, the band consists of two Australians (Paul and Heather) and an Englishman (Lee), meaning the sound spans further out than the usual British spectrum.  The band have attracted interest from all around the globe, with press coverage in Australia, Brazil and Britain, amongst other places, and with their first official release set for mid-2010 are looking to expand even further.
